Good day beautiful people!
Oh, guys… how I struggle to post on the blog during the weekends. I promise I’ll try harder in the future… but, here is today’s introductory post. Enjoy!
I share the same sentiments about a kitchen with a billion others, I’m sure. And that is that it is the social hub of a home. It is where we gather to talk about our day while Mom or Dad or whoever is the designated cook in the family is busy preparing a meal. I think whatever event or gathering you’re hosting starts in your kitchen. And more often than not, you’re never alone in the kitchen. For some reason you always end up with company.
If this applies to how your family lives or how you would like them to live, you’ve probably designed and installed your kitchen accordingly. Right? I’m sure there’s a few “wrongs” I’m getting and that includes mine.
It’s amazing how when we design & furnish our homes we don’t really ask ourselves these important basic questions: What’s the function of the space I’m designing? How can I design the space to compliment that function? Who will use the space? How often will the space be utilized? If we ask ourselves these questions I bet that we would be much happier with the spaces we live in, which is in the end the ultimate goal.
Unfortunately when we imagine the perfect kitchen or anything else for that matter, it involves something that does not belong to us. It's either our friend’s kitchen or something we’ve seen in a magazine. I believe that our spaces should reflect OUR OWN style and personality and it should be custom to the way WE live.
So, whether you have a small or big kitchen, IT CAN BE FABULOUS. Think creative, surf the web for ideas. Believe me you will find a solution for whatever problem you have. Sometimes the problem is not even as big as you think. A few finishing touches can work wonders.
For the next few posts on the blog I'll be posting tips on using space to the maximum, small kitchen makeovers and almost everything else about kitchens. I hope you are enjoying learning as much as I am.
I love the mirrored backsplash. Helps if you want to make the space to appear bigger. |
Lovely colour on the cabinets. Don't just think the norm. |

It takes up minimum space - A clever alternative |
Love the backsplash and the "double storey" cabinets. Great if you have high ceilings. |
