Prints Charming

Good day everybody!

Almost always fashion trends spills over into Home Interiors and it might even be the other way around too. We’ve seen it with colour blocking, neons, etc. and it is not at all different with the current tribal print trend.

I’ve always loved tribal prints especially African, Moroccan and even the Native American, Red Indian prints. And as much as the trend is very contemporary at the moment, it’s nothing new really. I also believe that it won’t ever completely disappear while certain cultures are kept alive. It is one of those things that evolves and repeat its comebacks. What I love about the trend currently is the introduction of much bolder and brighter hues.

As is the case with any “noisy” patterns and prints it’s important to quite it down, compliment or pair it off with more basic elements. When you hear African drum beats when you enter a space you’re definitely overdoing it! Actually you’ve started overdoing it along time before you hear the drum beats (chuckle).

In my personal opinion, prints are ideal for lifting natural and calmer shades. Use them to add that perfect dose of colour and a bit of edge and see how they liven up a very plain room. In the same breath, it’s amazing how the professionals can add curtains, chairs and even rugs in these prints in one room and make it work. That’s for the professionals. If you’re a mere mortal like me, stick to keeping it minimal in order to avoid a hot mess and dizziness :-)

Patios

Good day lovelies!

Since "Tis the season to be jolly falala la la la... la" we all could do with some fabulous outdoor spaces. And it is even better to entertain outside when you're having a summer Christmas like here in sunny South Africa!

We absolutely love braaing(barbecuing) under the African Sky and having an entertainment area to host our guest is almost mandatory. And like I always say, it's really about working with what you've got. Whether it's big or small you can make it work to accommodate your lifestyle.

Here is a few beautiful outdoor spaces. I hope you find inspiration to create your own little paradise :-)

Glass stack away doors are almost always the obvious choice. For the reason that they allow the interior to flow and join your outside spaces. So, you get the feeling that the two spaces are actually one.

I adore the hanging chair

Outside furniture is about durability and materials that can weather the elements. Appropriate treated wooden furniture, cast iron, etc. are very popular Yes, I just stated the obvious and that is because I really wanted to put a line here, but it's really late and I am really tired to think about what to write... haha!

I think Wicker furniture is the perfect look for the outdoors. It just works...

Hmmm... some tropical colours

And for those winter months? Fire pits and bowls... And if you cover them they can double up as tables during the summer time.

Thanks for dropping by

Ciao :-)

Amazing Spaces - Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder

Good day lovelies!

It's been such a long time since I've posted on the blog. I have to ask for your forgiveness. I've missed it so much and I'm gonna try my best to make it up to you. Thank you to everyone who visits the blog. We are nearing 3000 views, even after I pulled a MIA on the blog! I appreciate it and am grateful for every single view, every second and every minute spent here with me.

So, today I would like to share with you a few of my favourite spaces.

At times I feel like just looking at beautiful spaces and design. That's when I browse the internet and I am never disappointed. I want to share some of the pictures I've stored so far.

Sometimes I know exactly what it is within a space that attracts me to it. It might be a beautiful chandelier, an exposed brick wall or the use of extreme contrast. Then there are those magical moments when I can't explain what draws me to a certain space. I wish those moments happened more often, but it might be their scarcity that makes them more special and extraordinary.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-)

Thanks for visiting!

Ciao :-)
