Picking up where I left off

I can't believe that it's been two years since I've last blogged... Is this even still my page? I'm sure the blogger police will let me know if it's not lol...

I would like to think of this post as more of a re-introductory one, so here we go :-)

So much has happened in the last two years. Most importantly, I finally enrolled myself for an Interior Design course at The Blackford Centre last October and I have been having the time of my life. I am learning so much and I will of course share my journey with you as it progresses.

I have been wrecking my brain as to what I could post after such a long absence. I've decided to share some of my thoughts recently.
I've been asking myself what Interior Design is or rather what the root of it is? What encourages people to go to the extent some of them do? Is it just a fashion statement? Keeping up with the Jones'? Or are they making a home?

I would like to think of it as being more a heart condition... if it's not, it should be. It makes more sense that way. Your home should be your pride and joy, your escape, haven and place of relaxation. You should look forward to going home at the end of the day. It should be the place where your kids remember growing up, a place of laughter and joy. To accomplish that, you don't need fancy furniture and expensive home decor accessories. You only need your heart and own style to make a beautiful home. That's where the heart of the home is and that is where Interior Design starts.

It's always good to get advice from the experts and to follow trends especially if you are a trendy person; but the most important thing is always decorate and design from your heart. Follow your own style and design your home according to you and your family's lifestyle. Make it practical. It's the only way it will work. Dig deep into your creativity. Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously when designing/decorating. You're not making a museum... You're making a home :-)

To wrap this post up; I hope my blog will serve you well and be an encouragement to you to be creative. And remember, we're on this journey together. I'll be happy to see what you are up to, so send me pictures of your projects big and small.

Happy designing and thanks for dropping by.

Ciao :-)

Welcoming Entryways

Hi there!

Long time no blog and I've missed it so! I hope today's post is filled with inspiration and great ideas to use when decorating your own space.

An entryway is normally the first space in the entire house that gets seen first, yet it is majorly neglected because people don't pay much attention to it. I really think that is a big mistake and you are losing out on a opportunity to introduce yourself to whoever enters your home.

In a way it is a first impression, an introduction and welcome into your home. It should invoke curiosity and make people wonder about the rest of your home. More importantly it should welcome you and your family coming home after a long day.

Transform it into a bright, fresh and airy space that will brighten up your mood and make you smile.

Have fun with it!! Enjoy :-)

Remember... stay true to your own style :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Ciao

Home Office Interiors

Good day!

With the way our lifestyles have changed over the years, almost every house these days needs a home office. It also helps with keeping your head & house more organized. No books and stationery lying around in places they should not.

When it comes to decorating your home office, you don’t have to be careful with adding your own personal touch 100%...
There are no corporate rules in play that oblige you to conform to colour schemes, uniformity, corporate image, etc. If you are using your home office simply for your own private use, you can be more flexible with the décor. However, if you have a business that is home-based and will be receiving clients, it would be wise to consider that and add an element of professionalism in your décor.

Think along the lines of fresh, colour, light, inspirational, clutter free, etc. It will definitely help when you’re staying up, burning the midnight oil.

Have lots of fun!

Thanks for visiting and chat soon...

If you are lucky enough to have stairs in your home, I've posted a few pics with ideas on how to zhush them up. I think it's a great way to add some decor and style to a space.... AND double them up as storage places. Why not? We aaall need extra space from time to time.
