Picking up where I left off

I can't believe that it's been two years since I've last blogged... Is this even still my page? I'm sure the blogger police will let me know if it's not lol...

I would like to think of this post as more of a re-introductory one, so here we go :-)

So much has happened in the last two years. Most importantly, I finally enrolled myself for an Interior Design course at The Blackford Centre last October and I have been having the time of my life. I am learning so much and I will of course share my journey with you as it progresses.

I have been wrecking my brain as to what I could post after such a long absence. I've decided to share some of my thoughts recently.
I've been asking myself what Interior Design is or rather what the root of it is? What encourages people to go to the extent some of them do? Is it just a fashion statement? Keeping up with the Jones'? Or are they making a home?

I would like to think of it as being more a heart condition... if it's not, it should be. It makes more sense that way. Your home should be your pride and joy, your escape, haven and place of relaxation. You should look forward to going home at the end of the day. It should be the place where your kids remember growing up, a place of laughter and joy. To accomplish that, you don't need fancy furniture and expensive home decor accessories. You only need your heart and own style to make a beautiful home. That's where the heart of the home is and that is where Interior Design starts.

It's always good to get advice from the experts and to follow trends especially if you are a trendy person; but the most important thing is always decorate and design from your heart. Follow your own style and design your home according to you and your family's lifestyle. Make it practical. It's the only way it will work. Dig deep into your creativity. Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously when designing/decorating. You're not making a museum... You're making a home :-)

To wrap this post up; I hope my blog will serve you well and be an encouragement to you to be creative. And remember, we're on this journey together. I'll be happy to see what you are up to, so send me pictures of your projects big and small.

Happy designing and thanks for dropping by.

Ciao :-)
